Celebrate Our Audio Heritage

A historical and educational one day seminar by the Toronto Audio Engineering Society section on the occasion of its 40th Birthday.

Terry Brown, George Semkiw, Andy Hermant, Jack Richardson, Floyd Toole, Bill Woods...

... just a small sample of names that anybody working in the music industry over the past four decades will recognize as the audio professionals who were part of the driving force behind Toronto's audio industry.

On Saturday October 25, five panels of studio owners, managers, designers, producers and engineers, live sound company owners, engineers, and gear designers who were or are active in the Toronto pro audio world will assemble together at Ryerson's Eaton Theatre to discuss the motivations, the challenges, and developments in studio recording and live mixing technologies, practices and equipment/facility designs with a view to what made Toronto unique.

The Toronto pro audio world’s participation in the regional and global music industry over this period will be discussed and lessons learned from the analog days will be highlighted.  As well, the Toronto section of the AES is celebrating its 40th anniversary, and the AES International is celebrating its 60th anniversary, and both events will be celebrated during the day and with an evening banquet and keynote address.

The conference will include the taping of a video historical documentary, with short interviews of the many attendees who were involved in the AES and the Toronto music industry over the past forty years.
