Michael Godfrey is the President and Founder of HolophoneÆ, a division of Rising Sun Productions Limited, Located in Toronto , Canada. He has been capturing Surround Sound for over 11 years with the Holophone Surround Sound Microphone System, a multi-channel microphone designed specifically for surround capture, which he invented and patented in 1994. The Holophone was co-developed in it's early stages by the Canadian National Research Council and is now available around the globe. During his career he has personally been involved in over 50 major 5.1 events with international Television Broadcasters world-wide, most of them in HDTV format including most recently Super Bowl XXXIX in Jacksonville, Florida for FOX HDTV and the 2005 Grammy Awards in Los Angeles, California for CBS HDTV. His credits also include live surround music recording for major Music DVD's and SFX recording for motion pictures including Oliver Stone's "Any Given Sunday".
The presentation will provide an in-depth look at the new Holophone H2-PRO, background behind its development, its applications, etc. In addition, the audience will be treated to live demonstrations of rare 5.1 Surround Sound recordings made from around the world using the Holophone, including pieces from the Russian Philharmonic Orchestra recorded at the recently opened Moscow International House of Music.
Additional material will include live music from this years' Super Bowl recordings of Sir Paul McCartney and more. He will also discuss upcoming Holophone products including a portable version of the Holophone designed for easy use with broadcast cameras for field and ENG work. All attendees will receive literature and a complimentary interactive DVD with Dolby Digital 5.1 encoded audio tracks of the Holophone recordings demonstrated at the seminar. Michael Godfrey will be available for Q&A during the session and will also discuss how to implement Holophone Surround Microphone solutions for Canadian HDTV 5.1 broadcasting, both for now and in the future.
