The AES has issued a call for papers for the 31st AES International Conference New Directions in High Resolution Audio to be held June 25-27, 2007 in London, UK. Deadline for submissions is 2 Feb 2007. Malcolm Hawksford is papers chair.
"This Conference is concerned with the promotion and delivery of high resolution audio, by maintaining quality throughout the recording and playback chain with current and future technologies."
I'm just back from the San Francisco AES Convention. One of the most exciting things I heard there was playback of an Omar Hakim project recorded by Ronald Prent. The project was done in surround and recorded at 192 kHz. Another extraordinary Prent project. Ronald said that since then he's done recordings at 382 kHz. When asked what happens when he goes to higher and higher sampling rates he replied "It just gets scarier."
