Digidesign is now shipping Focusrite's The Liquid Channel, the company has announced. It's a 192kHz-compatible 2U rack-mountable hardware device that can accurately emulate every microphone pre-amp (mic-pre) and compressor combination in history, according to the company. It comes with 40 mic-pre replicas and 40 classic compressor replicas that you can mix and match, with the ability to store the results in one of 100 memory slots. Additional replicas can be downloaded from the Liquid Channel Web site. You can control up to eight Liquid Channel units remotely with Focusrite's Liquid Control application; a USB port on the back of the device plugs into your Mac. System requirements call for Mac OS X v10.2.8 or higher, USB 1.1 or 2.0 and 5MB of hard drive space. The suggested price is US$3,495. [MacCentral]
