DAWs: what’s trendy, what’s being used

2026 Bulletin - January, Regular Meeting

Explores a critical shift in the audio post-production landscape. The premise is simple: The era of the “DAW Wars” has ended, but the “Workflow Wars” have just begun.

The industry is currently experiencing massive fragmentation. The days of a singular industry standard are evolving into a complex ecosystem where video editors mix in DaVinci Resolve, composers rely on Ableton, and audiophiles remain dedicated to Pyramix.

The panel discussion will cover:

  • Standardization vs. Specialization: Is the concept of an “Industry Standard” dying, or simply evolving into specialized pockets?

  • The Disruptors: With tools like DaVinci Resolve gaining traction, is the traditional “round-trip” workflow becoming obsolete?

  • The Reality Check: An exploration of the gap between “bedroom producer” marketing and the heavy lifting required for broadcast and high-res release.

This session offers a deep dive into the reality of daily professional workflows, moving beyond marketing hype to discuss what tools are actually being used to get the job done.
