We are saddened to learn of the passing of our dear and loved friend and long time Toronto AES member, James Hayward.
You will recognize Jim’s face: he was a regular at AES meetings over the past three decades, and often would contribute with his wit and technical prowess in discussions with meeting presenters… fearlessly including the dynamic duo of Stan Lipshitz and John Vanderkooy (two highly respected and preeminent (retired now) professors at University of Waterloo and its famed “Audio Research Group“.
He directly supported our section, including hosting special event committees at his home, and occasionally treating us to a tune on his beloved grand piano. Among his many contributions to our monthly meetings, Jim was the catalyst for bringing the Zenph/Gould project to Toronto, which was subsequently featured in a monthly AES meeting in 2015.
We will miss you Jim!!! Our sympathies go out to his wife and family, and his extended network of friends who will all be missing him as we are.
If you wish, you can attend visitation/funeral servcies, and post a memory on the funeral home website link below. Donations can be made in Jim’s honor to Doctors Without Borders or the Canadian Cancer Society.
