Things That Go Bump in the Network: Next-Gen IP Audio’s Darkest Nightmares 🎃👻

Event Details & Overview
What: A spooky, high-stakes panel discussion on Audio-over-IP, ST 2110-30, Dante/AES67 convergence, and cloud-native workflows.

The Vibe: Engineering realities meet Halloween thrills—because nothing is scarier than unmanaged multicast routing on a shared enterprise network.

What We’ll Unmask
We are moving far beyond “experimental” tech. IP audio has become baseline infrastructure, but navigating it can feel like walking through a haunted house. Our expert panel will tackle:

The Interoperability Maze: Bridging the gap between strict broadcast-grade requirements (SMPTE ST 2110-30) and multi-vendor live-sound ecosystems (AES67, Dante).

The Ghosts in the Machine (PTP & IT Collaboration): Why “plug it in and hope” no longer works, and how to survive the nightmare of QoS, multicast, and PTP grandmaster clock stability.

Spells, AI, and Automation: Exploring where artificial intelligence is actually making an impact—from automated diagnostics to real-time metadata tagging.

Into the Cloud: Overcoming the ghoulish hurdles of managing low-latency uncompressed audio across WANs and distributed production environments.

“As Dante, AES67, and ST 2110 continue to intersect, where are we still seeing friction in cross-vendor interoperability, and what needs to happen to achieve a truly ‘plug-and-play’ IP audio fabric?”

And remember the golden rule of the dark: “In next-gen IP audio, the network is the console.”

Don’t get left in the dark—reserve your spot today and find out how to keep your audio streams alive before they go bump in the night!

PRESENTERS:

Jonathon Zener

Jonathon Zener

System Admin - CBC

Jonathon Zener is a technology generalist with a background in theatrical and post-production sound, edutainment, and IT infrastructure. After studying theatre at York University and working in audio and general IT, he has spent the past eight years at CBC working at the intersection of IT and broadcast media. He brings a hands-on, multidisciplinary perspective to audio-over-IP and real-time media.

Martin Van Dijk

Martin Van Dijk

Senior Systems Designer with Engineering Harmonics

Martin is a Senior Consultant, Partner, and Head of Design at Engineering Harmonics, bringing a lifelong immersion in audio that began with his early studies at the Royal Conservatory of Music. He went on to tour professionally as both a musician and a mix engineer, cultivating a deep, practical understanding of sound, recording, and technical production. Over his distinguished career, Martin has led teams on numerous complex performing arts, enterprise, and government projects worldwide, including the AT&T Performing Arts Center in Dallas, the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts in Kansas City, and the conceptual design for the sound, video, and cinema systems at the 27-story Antilia residence in Mumbai.

As the firm’s consulting lead, Martin oversees major high-profile transformations, including the comprehensive sound and studio renovations for Massey Hall and the sound overhaul at the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto. His expertise in tackling exceptionally challenging architectural and technical environments was also demonstrated when he led the House of Commons Chamber relocation in Ottawa, successfully executing a complex integration of sound, AV, and broadcast systems within a glass-domed structure. A member of the Audio Engineering Society and BICSI, Martin contributes to industry standards through his work on the Ontario Film and Television Production Electrical Committee and technical lectures with Syn-Aud-Con.
Christopher Sampson

Christopher Sampson

Live production, post-production, and immersive audio technologies

Christopher Sampson is a seasoned audio professional with extensive experience in live production, post-production, and immersive audio technologies. With over 18 years in the industry, he has worked with Canada’s leading broadcasters, including CBC, Bell Media, and CTV, providing expert audio mixing and support for live events, news programs, sports coverage, and high-profile shows like The Juno Awards, The Grey Cup, and the Olympic Games.

Christopher specializes in advanced audio systems integration, including AES67, SMPTE 2110, and AoIP protocols, as well as immersive sound design and sweetening for projects using technologies like Dolby ATMOS, SPAT Revolution, and TiMax. His deep technical expertise spans a wide range of digital consoles (Calrec, Lawo, Studer, DigiCo, AVID, Midas, Yamaha,A&H, etc.) and DAWs (ProTools, Pyramix, Boom Recorder, Nuendo, Reaper), making him a versatile force in both production and post-production environments.

Christopher is also passionate about pushing the boundaries of audio technology, particularly in the areas of automation, virtualization, and networked audio systems. His obsession with IP-based signal flow doesn’t end when he leaves the studio. On his own, Chris operates an extensive personal network-audio ecosystem—integrating IP-addressable speakers, networked power amplifiers, hardware controllers, and custom routing setups to test low-latency streaming, remote telemetry, and edge-device management in real-world conditions. Whether architecting large-scale broadcast routing or fine-tuning local IP audio endpoints, he brings a practical, hands-on perspective to the future of networked sound, system control, and virtualization.

Anthony P. Kuzub

Anthony P. Kuzub

Sr. Systems Designer

Anthony Kuzub is a third-generation broadcast engineer who bridges the gap between the vintage warmth of analog and the infinite precision of modern IP networks. A bilingual systems architect with over 25 years of experience, Anthony specializes in managing the “open-heart surgery” required to upgrade critical live broadcast facilities without disrupting on-air operations.

Working as a Senior Design Engineer at OneDiversified, Anthony architects resilient media ecosystems for some of the world’s most prestigious sports and enterprise organizations, including the NHL, the NBA, Augusta National Golf Course, and JPMorgan Chase.

Prior to his global consultancy role, Anthony spent six years leading technological transformation projects at Canada’s national public broadcaster (CBC/Radio-Canada). There, he was responsible for the end-to-end design and migration of massive production infrastructures, moving entire facilities from legacy cabling to next-generation Dynamic Media Facilities. Notably, he led the complete modernization of CBC Music’s on-air production workflow, implementing a system that effectively serves over two million listeners every hour.

His resume includes designing world-class recording, television and radio studios, managing complex RF spectrum, and expanding critical intercom systems to their absolute hardware limits. Beyond his project work, Anthony is a dedicated industry leader who chairs international committees on grounding and electromagnetic compatibility.

He is an active author of open engineering standards that define how professional audio devices connect and communicate. A lifelong “maker,” Anthony balances high-level system architecture with hands-on mechanics, owning and operating a machine shop with his two sons.
